PHOTO GUIDELINES
We’re seeking amazing photos from amateur high school photographers that highlight trees in Orange County.
This is important because this year, our goal is to help plant 50,000 trees in California.
CULTURAL: Inspire with images depicting trees in parks, near rivers or lakes, or along the beach.
SCENIC, SEASONS & LIFESTYLE: Capture the outdoor beauty of your community with landscapes featuring trees that make the scenery special. Tell the story of the community through your photographs.
TRAVEL: What is a day of travel like in your community? Highlight trees offering appeal along the way. How do they line up? What shade do they provide? Capture the essence of nature in your area as you move through your community.

WHAT NOT TO DO
Do not alter or manipulate photos except for cropping and adjustment of contrast and brightness. Photos depicting artistic special effects cannot be included in this contest. Instagram and other similar filters add artistic effects to photos and are therefore not eligible.
Do not break any laws or rules of federal lands.
Do not do anything unsafe.
Do not photograph anything that is inappropriate, indecent, or obscene.
HOW PHOTOS ARE JUDGED
Photos must be tree-focused (please see photo guidelines for samples) and will be judged on the following criteria:
ORIGINALITY · ARTISTIC COMPOSITION · TECHNICAL QUALITY · PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUE
HOW TO SUBMIT

Photographs submitted must be your original work and exclusive property of the photographer.
Images may be digitally altered after they were taken only if using standard optimizing techniques (such as cropping or other procedures that can also be done in a darkroom) or if creating High Dynamic Range (HDR) images. Modified images must not be manipulated beyond the reality that existed when the photograph was taken.
Submit photos in JPEG format. Try to ensure that the photo is at least 10 megabytes with a 300 DPI resolution, as the winning photos must work in print, with pixels of 3600 x 5400 or 5400 x 3600.
Photographs must be in color.
A maximum of three photos per entrant may be submitted. Please do not submit more than three different images
